Helpful ideas for novices in link building – it can be extremely time consuming as we are all too aware. Creating a relationship is a great idea but genuine relationships also take time to harvest. I guess it’s a bit hopeful to expect a quick fix.

Now, regarding Twitter. Many people think that when you post on Twitter you’re creating links back to your content and to others that you Tweet about. This is true in the human sense but not with the search engines. Most of the time this holds true for blog comments too. Linking to your site from another blog’s comment area will return some value in that other people might find your site and eventually link there if they see value, but the actual link from the comment has zero value in regards to ranking in the search engines.

Putting up backlinks is quite a tedious process. Yes, there are automated ways of doing this…like spamming blogs with the use of software but they can cost money. Nothing beats manual backlinking if only we have more time.

I think it is still important to have a good mix of no-follow and do-follow backlinks so that Google and other search engines won’t be looking at your site as unnatural.

I for one sometimes don’t care if it is no-follow or do-follow site.

No follow tag is not right for natural Link Building and Links from Blog Posts.The nofollow tag indicates to Google (and other) spiders to not follow the link to its intended place.I just stumbled upon your blog and wanted to say That I have really enjoyed reading your blog posts.

I was curious to know if automatic blog commenting software is frowned upon by google. I have seen some of these services being offered on the net, but if the same content (in this case comments) are being distributed throughout the net, that can’t be a good thing.

I think it is just a nasty rumor that nofollow backlinks are not good. With my experience, I have done reall well when getting anchor text on these nofollow links. Granted, with nofollow links and no anchor text for keywords, this will not help, but I respectfully disagree that nofollow backlinks with good anchor text keywords are not useful. We optimise sites with no follow tags…its funny. They seem to get better ranks of those with only do follow…Would it have to do with making link building look natural?

I would recommend no follow links as they can help your overall campain and even though no page rank is followed you are still advising the spiders what your site is about. ( They still read the anchor text and use this…Seo Sallys little secret.)

Blog commenting acceptable when the comments are posted by human beings. If you are interested in the post, and genuinely have something to share, then it’s okay to post some comments on blog. In other words, you are indirectly adding value to websites with your comments. That is acceptable practice. Once your comments are approved, your links will appear on blog posts.

It would make me pretty sad to see that a site wasn’t giving me a link back. I try to comment on only sites relevant to my blog subject and SEO. I go to some sites and they dont have a place to write your website name in. I assume those are nofollow. I make a judgement call at that time. Sometimes I’ll comment anyway but other times whats the point? Where would I have to look for this tag?
I have another question. In googel webmaster tools I see I have over 300 links to the same website. I wonder how many links my site is giving away with each comment? How can I find that out? How can I limit it to one link for one comment? Is that even possible?

In my experience, writing blog posts for the purpose of gaining links doesn’t help much. Instead your strategy should be to make posts that invite a click through to your site. That’s how they do the most good.

If the blog doesn’t use a nofollow tag, you might get a backlink but that’s not as beneficial to you as a link found in content or someone mentioning your blog post in a blog post of theirs. The only way they’re going to do that is to click through to your site and find out about who you are and what you do, so make your comments inviting for readers.
